YouTube Mashups is a great way to promote your site. This is done by simply having an article or blog post ready to be published and then “mashing” it up with a YouTube video. It will look like the original article has been reformatted and made into a video. You can do this for nearly any website, but it’s easiest to do when the source video is a little older (so it hasn’t been changed too much). When you have the choice, choose to make the new video visible or hide it from the preview area. For this example, I’ll assume that the article is already posted and the video hasn’t been created yet.
The first thing you need to do is open up your YouTube channel. Search for the keyword mash-up and click on the button that says “Add”. If there is already a mash-up, select it and start making a new one. Click on “Search Engine”, then “Search”.
The next thing you need to do is go to the search box and type in the keyword or phrase you are going to mash up into the search field. You will be asked to enter a URL address where you want the YouTube videos to appear. In my case, I’ve chosen to create a custom page just for my mash-ups so that I have a preview button that I can click to show the results. I’ve also created a “channel” that I can promote from my blog. It’s easy to get the embed code for YouTube; all you have to do is copy and paste the code given to you in the resource box below.
Once you’re done entering all of your information, you’ll see all of your options. Click on “Create Video”. A preview will appear and you’ll see the code you’ll need to paste into the video description. When finished, you’ll see a thumbnail preview of your newly created video. If everything looks good to go, you can click “Submit” to publish your video to YouTube.
Now, I’m sure you’ve wondered how YouTube can help you with your YouTube mashup efforts. Well, YouTube has taken care of everything for you. All you have to do is paste your videos in between the comments on any relevant blogs and websites. It’s as easy as that! When you’re finished posting the videos, you’ll see a notification at the top corner of the page telling you that your videos have been updated.
One more thing I’d like to touch on here is YouTube’s new feature that allows you to share your YouTube mashups on your Facebook fan page. If you’re not familiar with it, you can activate the new feature by selecting “Share” at the bottom of your YouTube page. Once it’s on, you’ll see a box where you can select “Mashup”. It will ask you to choose the content area you want to place the mashup code in. If you’re wondering how to add a code, the easiest way is to copy the URL of the original YouTube video and paste it directly into the content area. It’s as easy as that.
Finally, to fully take advantage of YouTube’s latest tools and features, you should also learn how to convert your current YouTube videos into PDF format. In the main menu, look for “PDF”. Click “Create PDF”. Once you’re through with it, you can copy your entire YouTube videos into your PDF. Then, you can use Adobe’s free reader to read and edit your newly created PDF file. The cool thing about this conversion process is that it not only makes your videos easier to find on YouTube but also easier to share on Facebook and in other social networking areas.
All in all, I think YouTube Mashups is a fantastic service. They make creating marketing videos easier than ever before. And best of all, YouTube mashups let you do even more. If you’re an internet marketer who has lots of videos, or if you’re simply looking to expand your horizons, I highly recommend using YouTube for your video marketing. You’ll be glad you did!
